US Missiles Carry Out "unexplained" Commands in the Field

Reports are coming in that Patriot missile systems located in Turkey and operated by the German Bundeswehr have been the target of computer hackers.

Though details are scarce, the German media outlet Behörden Spiegel is indicating that "unexplained" commands were remotely issued to the US-produced weapons systems by an unknown individual or group of hackers. Though as yet unconfirmed, there remains some cause for concern that the Patriot (MIM-104) missile systems deployed in the field, which consist of six launchers, each with four missiles designed for either anti-air or long-range tactical ballistic missile interception, and several radar systems, could fall into enemy hands without a battle ever taking place.1 Unlike the US HUMVEEs now in the hands of ISIS, this attack demonstrates the possibility that no physical interaction would have to take place for NATO technology to turn on its creators2 and deployers.3 Continue reading

  2. The Patriot missile systems are produced by Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, and Fire Control on US soil.

Survey: More Than a Third of American Adults Would Expatriate

CNBC reports that a British venture has conducted a survey which found 35% or more than a third of American residents born in the United States and immigrants who settled in United States would like to expatriate to live in another country. More than half of young adults, 55%, are willing to abandon the United States as well. The United States Treasury department recorded 3,415 Americans formally renouncing their citizenship last year up from 348 in 1998. The number of American Citizens actually renouncing their citizenships began its trend of climbing steeply in 2010 when 1534 United States Citizens renounced citizenship compared to 742 in 2009.

FATF: Concerns Regarding Use Of Bitcoin By Terrorists

The Australian reports(paywalled) (archive) that a Financial Action Task Force meeting scheduled to run June 21st through 26th in Brisbane, Australia will include discussions regarding the possible use of Bitcoin by terrorists with the view that exchanges who turn bitcoin into fiat currency should be required to report transactions it perceives to be suspicious. Attack on Dallas PD Headquarters: Another Drop in Bucket of Frustrated Americans

Riding in a customized "Zombie Apocalypse Assault Vehicle and Troop Transport" with several pipe bombs in tow, Texas resident James Lance Boulware peppered the Dallas Police Department headquarters with bullets last Saturday, damaging the building itself as well as a squad car. Vietnamese newspaper Thanh Niên reports (archive) that several computers located at Vietnam's Ministry of Justice recently became infected with ransomware leading to the encryption of important data. Following the ransomware attack, other agencies under the helm of the MoJ were advised to guard against such infections in a stock standard manner as is typically suggested by government – don't visit unfamiliar websites and take extra caution opening email attachments.
