Small Mining Firm Takes Regulatory Compliance Pill, Moves to the Dark Side

A small mining firm referring to itself as HashingSpace Corporation has pushed out a press release bragging that they have retained the services of IdentityMind Global to implement anti money laundering, know your customer, and other criminal regulatory services antithetical to Bitcoin. IdentityMind Global claims to have relationships with "more than 40" "virtual currency businesses" most of which serve as interfaces between fiat currency and Bitcoin. HashingSpace professes to primarily be a mining and miner hosting operation that also just happens to provide other services like a "wallet" and Bitcoin ATMs. On social media earlier this summer HashingSpace has claimed to possess 5 petahashes of mining hardware, an amount eerily similar to that claimed by GAW Miners before their collapse.

Collected Notes on the XT Client and XTCoin fork

Several days after the Mike Hearn and Gavin Andressen announced their coup attempt it is becoming clear that the XT effort is an effort to misrepresent a neutered, less robust, and rapidly changing system as Bitcoin. A number of parties are catching onto the false sense of urgency which has been pushed hard by Gavin Andressen over the past year and supported by a number of flooding attacks presented as "stress tests." Continually the coup's propaganda has been crashing into the hard face of reality as the reaction to the flooding attacks show Bitcoin works as advertised when the attack ends up allowing for a demonstration of transaction fee markets. Coinwallet Plans Spam While the Spamming is Cheap

Last month a venture calling itself "Coinwallet" flooded the Bitcoin network with spam in what the company called a "stress test." A Coinwallet representative recently stated the company will be performing another stress test in early September, claiming there will close to 4.6 GB worth of spam that will flood the network. Tokyo Court Affirms Ancient Bitcoin Wisdom: Coins Gifted to Scammers are No Longer Yours

This week a Tokyo Court dismissed a lawsuit brought by a Kyoto resident who lost 458 Bitcoins in the Mt Gox scam. The Kyoto resident represented himself in court on a complaint he brought against Mt Gox's receiver as Mt Gox is in bankruptcy. The court in dismissing the suit determined Bitcoin is not subject to ownership claims due to its intangible nature and the third parties involved in the sort of claim the Kyoto resident wished to make. The alarm on Mt Gox's inevitable collapse had been sounded well in advance of popular recognition of Mt Gox's failure.

Selkis Tips Fiat Agenda For Bitcoin

Ryan Selkis, known on social media as @TwoBitIdiot, has begun concern trolling over "wealth concentration" in Bitcoin and proposed moving Bitcoin to a permanently inflationary reward schedule by 2020. Such a change would of course never be implemented in actual Bitcoin, but the fact that it is being introduced by someone titled "Director of Investments" at some organization calling itself the "Digital Currency Group" strongly suggests that fiat interests in the United States that would like to not only inflate the blockchain in order to force centralization. It suggests United States based fiat interests would like to destroy the very image of what Bitcoin is. Continue reading

Universal Shares Own Film With Pirates

On the 15th of this month Universal Pictures France filed a takedown request with Google (archived) demanding they remove from results sites hosting or linking pirated copies of Jurassic World. Among the addresses Universal demanded Google sanction was 127.0.0.1 which is the IP address a computer reserves for communicating with itself. This means that not only was Universal seeding its own film to pirates, it was likely doing so from the same machine used detect and prepare a report on infringement for Universal. Continue reading
